Item Variables

In my campaign some heroes will be replaced with new heroes to make them stronger but I want them to keep the same items.So I first made the variable: 'HeroItem', type: item, array 1
and then before I replace the hero I did: set 'HeroItem' 1 is item carried by 'hero' in slot 1 etc. Then replace the hero. but then when I do the action 'create item for hero' I cant select the variable items... Does any1 know how to do this?

hm.. is the item unselectable or the variable messed up?

and maybe it would help to post your trigger :?

Oh... nvm, I have another way. Before I replace the unit, I just order the hero to drop the items.
