That field exists only for doodads. You just import the portrait file of the model "Name.mdx" (if it exists) as "Name_portrait.mdx". And it works automatically.

Geez, Ralle should fix that tutorial to stop confusing you people.
 
Well, it is really confusing for some people since this part of the description comes with every model, like tanks, flame spiders and elf archers which you don't typically use as destructibles. Also nobody cares for the destructible portrait these days, I think. >.>
 
The tutorial exactly says that you don't have to do it for units:

A portrait is the little camera view in front of an object's face. You can see the object's mouth moving when the object talks. When working with destructibles, you can set their portrait file. But with units, the portrait file just needs to have the model files name, ending with a '_portrait':
