Horrible terrible problem, help much needed. (level info data missing or invalid)

I have been working on this map for more than a year and a half, and it is looking really nice, and I am very proud of my effort.

But, I tried to open the map today and was faced with this error message:

Unable to load file 'map name'
Level info data missing or invalid.

What should I do? I really don't want to start over, I have spent literally weeks of my life working on this! Please, please help!

What have you done last time you could open the map? Have you added a model? If yes it could be corrupted you can delete it from you map using an MPQ tool like WinMPQ v1.64 - The Hive Workshop - A Warcraft III Modding Site.

Btw what is the name of your map? If it is too long it won't open either.

If this does not help you then you have learned the valuable lesson to always make back ups.

You might also try to open it with an other editor. And maybe you can use a deprotect program to switch one of the corrupted files, don't count on it though.

There isn't really much to do D:
If you made any backups get the latest one even if its one month old, better than starting over. I had similar problems and i must say backups are sweet =)

Thankfully, it was the most recently tested map, so I opened WorldEditTestMap, and saved it as something else. Problem solved!

Just take a look in your maps folder in the "test" folder.

If you used the "test" function of we once there is a backup of your map.
