Hello there! I'm just a new member. I hope to get along with everyone :cool:
I'm here to LEECH a lot :grin:
I'm learning to make mods so I'm gathering mods to be studied. Don't worry, I won't publish them without credits :wink:

Hello oneecon, was the leeching part a joke?

Thanks, everyone! I'm not online so often but I'll make sure I visit everytime I'm online.

@BoneBreaker
Well... It's not entirely a joke :D
I found this site by Googling, and I leeched mods until I decided to register. I'm a newbie mapmaker, and a total amateur when it comes to modding, so as I said I'm gathering mods to be used as references for making my own mods.
I won't commit piracy though, and I won't publish a map that contains mods made by other members :)

How do you even start making models? How long does it take? I need some models for my map.

how long? well... obviously it depends on how much effort i want to spend on a model. i usually just modify something that blizzard has created. including the graphical modifications, it can take up to 2 hours for me. well i think i suck though.

to make mods, you must have the correct applications. you may want to start by having a MPQviewer to view and extract files from .mpq files in your warcraft III. then have yourself a skinner application to extract the .blp files, which are textures of the mods. afterwards find something to convert your .blp into .tga, then edit the .tga using ACDsee or such. that's the simplest of modifying existing mods. you can, for example, have a rainbow-coloured chimaera.

to create your very own mods, you may need an application to create and modify the mods' "bones", i.e. lined structures that determine a mod's joints and thus its movements. for example, you make "bones" then implant the skins.

i'm sure there are more advanced users here who can explain better than me. about the necessary applications, i got some from here, some from infoceptor.com, but forgot the links, sorry.

making models are pain in the ass, Auuh, I suggest you get most of your models from here, Warcraft III Models which are already made by Hive members, remember to credit them! Also, post your Ideas (About your mod) here, Map Development - The Hive Workshop - A Warcraft III Modding Site you might get some support.

Yeah, that's really a pain in the ass. I've already downloaded some models from here. Credit is guaranteed but I don't know when will I finish my map.

If you want help modeling, check out our tutorials section.

I've checked some. But I'm the one who would like to be helped... as I said I'm a total noob at modelling so I'd like to learn from tutorials and other models to make cooler models. Thanks anyway, everyone.
