anyway yes it needs shurbs and maybe rocks.
if your doing like an anime map then don't block out the area.
Hmm its a bit hard to help you if you don't explain what you aim for.
I'm not quite sure if you want to stick to the sand (i personaly would change it, but its your decision) but besides that you could easily use some shrubs or flowers on the gras and under the trees.
You cold also create a decent green fog (the fog from the editor itself) to make it more "forest-like" or use some fog-models (for example from the utm) to make the arena a bit "mystic".
