you can also make a shortcut on the tool bar by going to the "Customize" tab and "customize User Interface" then click on " Tool Bars tab" then go down to "Dope sheet (Open) " and drag it to your tool bar.
I use dope sheet frequently so one click is better then 2 (drop menu)
