HELP!! How to make a dark and creepy cave???

Pls pls pls help. I'm working on a RPG and I need to know....
1How can I darken a cave when a unit enters
2How can I make it so that if that unit holds a torch (item) can see farther into the cave</FONT>

ANY help will be appreciatated cause I'm still a noob mapmaker

1) reduce the unit's visibility?

2) make an item like that goblin scope thing that increases visibility. when you are not in the cave ( detect this w/ a region or something ), replace this with an item w/o the effect, and vice versa.

You can also try to apply black fade filter upon entering to make it darker, although iirc it will supress action/ability desriptions

If we rewrite the fadefilter func it will not hide UI.
