TriggerHappy's system allows the easiest possibility of Save/Load to reduce GUI users hassles.
Saveload has nothing to do with generating files. A Saveloadsystem usually only generates a string that holds the savecode, what you do with that is up to you (display on screen, save to textfile, or whatever...).
The reason why leaks in Saveload systems dont matter is because saveload functionality isnt executed with a high frequency.
