when importing icons you import the BTN and the DISBTN.

but when playing a single player map, the very moment you open the game menu, every imported icon, no matter if in BTN or DISBTN state, will become green.

can anyone tell me how to avoid this? is there possibly a model one can disable at the "advanced user interface settings" in the editor?

please note I know how to properly import buttons.

well if the path for your button is BTNIcon.blp... then the only thing that will show up when you open a menu is whatever image is under DISBTNIcon.blp, and if there is not image with that path, you get that gorgeous green square.

okay every button in warcraft has two images... a BTN and a DISBTN, the DISBTN is just the same image, darkened without a frame.. and this is what shows when opening menus etc.. if you import BTNButton.blp.. you must also import DISBTNButton.blp, the DISBTN will be what shows up in place of that green square.

Except the way I've understood, what he's looking for is the path for that "gorgeous green square", it's path so that he can import an icon to be displayed for every icon, a global DISBTN if you will. Personaly I don't think that even is an icon, rather the abcense of an icon and can't be found in the MPQ. But I don't know.

um nope.

Argus you are right, there is no texture for the green icon. its a specific error-kind of thing, created for the absence of a texture.

i am not looking for a way to replace or edit it.

and i do know that you have to import BTN & DISBTN files for every icon.

YET, even if you have both imported, and both working properly, the very moment you open the game menu (in singleplayer, the game becomes paused and therefore a layer of grey is put >>BETWEEN THE GAME MENU AND THE GAME SCENERY<<) every imported icon (that has correct btn and disbtn file & path) becomes a green square.

is this problem so unknown? am i doing something fundamentally wrong?

thanks for comments anyway guys!

did you made your disbtn yourself? in that case... do you know about alpha channels? if so... did you remember to keep them? did you use warcraft 3 viewer to convert them?

for a fast solution i recommend you to use it (warcraft 3 viewer) to convert your icons coz it saves the alpha channels (if they are not it creates them) so that you dont have that problem... now... are you sure that you imported them with the BTNicon.blp and DISBTNicon.blp? are you sure you used the same name for them?

Did you serious place the path properly?
for your BTN - ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTN(YourIcon).blp
For DISBTN -
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTN(YourIcon).blp
