The first thing you want to do, when making a new texture, is to get an idea of what you want to make. Your idea here, as I see it, is to make an Egyptian interpretation of a warden. Because we demand originality here at THW, simply making the warden in different colours will not suffice. You should also, for your own gain, try to make original textures instead of just changing colours. If you don't have a good idea of your own, try to find some references. If searching images of warden yields few useful references, try to find synonymous words, or break down what warden is. A warden is a form of guard - often guarding a prison, for instance, making sure prisoners behave and do not escape. They may also guard other things without it being too far off the mark. Thus, perhaps searching for guard or guardian would yield some better results. In the end, though, it a bit hard to catch good reference because of the modern-day use of the term. Do some searcher on egyptian[/], though, and you'll find some inspiration on how to design your unit.

When you have a good idea of what you want to do, paint in onto the texture, in a new layer, and start working it in to fit with the model - save it, check with the model and find out what you need to fix to make it look better, and go back to work more.

I also suggest you have a look at Mr.Goblin's tutorial, there's a lot of good tips in there and it should help you on the way to become a better artist.
