Drek'thar's SpellBook

This bundle is marked as pending. It has not been reviewed by a staff member yet.
This is a "demake" of the original Reforged icon: "Drek'thar's SpellBook". I've redrawn it to more closely resemble the Classic style.

Drekthar's SpellBook (Icon)

Awesome, just in time for my COOP FoD campaign. I put SD borders and resolution on the HD icons for this campaign, but having actual SD icons like these is so much better

I see your efforts, but I want to understand what is the essence of trying to find an alternative to the better drawn original?

That one is already Sorceress Mastery Training and Gerard's Ledger, so having Drek'thar's book have its own icon is nice

The reforged icon is basically an upscaled and more detailed variation of the icon I shared. And this icon by SoyMante is a reduced to 64x64 and redrawn icon of that upscaled icon 🤷‍♂️ I would understand a point if it was a non-existing reforged icon or an icon with different aesthetics.

I understand your point of view, but having a variant doesn't hurt. Not because it's better or worse in terms of design, it's simply to avoid repeating the same icon over and over. Some prefer to save time and repeat the icon, while others prefer to make each object different, even if it's just a slight variation. Besides, my mission is to demake all the EXCLUSIVE Reforged icons, not ALL the icons; that wouldn't make sense. I don't care if it's a slight design variation or something like that; my goal is simply that.

Oh, I see now, thanks for making it clear. So the classic icon is something medium. I agree that variations never hurt, why not, let people choose.

You have a cool mission, quite ambitious I would say, and it’s a good idea if it brings new quality content.

Please don't be upset by my words, I didn't mean to mock. Considering "a better drawn original" I can explain in detail if you want some critique and trust my taste based on my icons and experience. Tilt, perspective, contrast, glowing, linework, a lot of stuff is involved, even what is considered most true to the ogirinal art style, like Samwise's creations, which resemble a more cartoonish and less screnshot-y art style. I wish you to succeed in this direction and learn to make icons that will be difficult to distinguish from the original ones if they are poured like puzzles onto one table. After all, not only execution technique is important here, but also observation.

I'm not bothered by what you said; I just wanted to avoid confusion about what I'm trying to do. And yes, it's a difficult task since it involves translating Reforged not only into a simpler style but also back to its original artistic language. Obviously, I'm not good enough to achieve perfect results, but I think I'm getting close enough, and it's also good practice. I'm trying to find a middle ground, one that resembles the original style of the classic while still visually resembling Reforged. There are still many icons ahead, and I already have several in mind that I know will be difficult to create. One of them was the "Bladebane Armor," which I'm still not entirely happy with, but honestly, my skill level isn't high enough to make it better.

So don't worry, I didn't take your comment the wrong way or anything like that, I respect all points of view, I just wanted to avoid confusion about what I really want to achieve.
