very theoretically it is possible, but it is not correct because it requires deprotecting the map, pulling the icons out, and you give no credit to the original author(no, Icefrog nor his teammates did not make most, if not any of the icons, they are all downloaded, some even from here) since you cant even know who the original author is

.. like anybody cares. you can mention the author or skip it - both cases won't make you illegal by any terms, rules or w/e.

so no, if you post that map in here with these icons without giving credit, and someone notices(unnoticed crime can not be punished obviously), the map will be rejected

Maybe I should put "at max you'll be punished by some community but it barely means anything for your map as a standalone thing". Obviously you can ignore pirated WC3 users, but it's just you. Overall, close this offtop, it's sensless and pretty much morale-based.

And who am I supposed to give credit to for Split Shot's icon?
And what if I modified it myself in some way?
And what actually happens if I make an icon/model that looks 95% like something that already exists, but I've made mine from scratch?

  1. Since dota didn't give proper credits to folk, that is impossible to know. Splitshot is just a poorly modified wc3 icon, so credit blizzard, or don't. Nobody credits blizzard.
  2. Still have to give credit to original creator.
  3. In this case the icon is yours, and you can do whatever you please.

for the third, there is great deeal with that, some people would say you should credit them, if for nothing else, for inspiration, but imo, if you make Lich King model, should you credit 25 other people that made it before you on hive? I personally dont think so. + I would not credit blizzard, since they gave you permissions to use their shit, and everyone knows its blizzard's work when they see it(even if ripped from wow or sc2).

You are not permitted to modify other's people work without their approval, and I think credit is still due, since you've taken something and did some facade work on it.

In this case I dont know, look around hive, or other wc3 sites, if you dont find anything, then maybe it doesnt matter.

I just want to point out these were obtained in matter that hive does not approve(deprotecting map)

I did the hard part, now just google up and find creators of these. Or ask on playdota forums.

Included are both his hero icon, and splitshot icon.

Paths for model and texture are:
Units/Orc/Hellscream/Hellscream.blp
Units/Orc/Hellscream/Hellscream.mdx
