That's quite good. I suggest not using in game view, and using Fog (F), Sky (K), and Info (I). That will give the same effect.

The roman style marble or limestone pillars are more of a Mediterranean thing and don't really fit in with a temperate European or American east coast style forest, even a dark creepy forest. Also, with out nearby derbies to suggest a ruined structure to sort of justify a lone column in the middle of an forest, it looks sort of out of place. I'd suggest either one of the darker colored oblesks, or you could edit the doodad itself to make the stone appear darker, since its not common to find limestone or marble in a temperate climate type setting. And yes, fog would really enhance the mood you where going for, as well as maybe a lightning strike in the background.

Sorry if I rambled, I take WAY too much into consideration when i make a map lol.
