Critical Strike as Tech-type?!

i want to use the ability critical strike for a tower but i cant add the ability as requirement, i mean i cant research it for example in a tech center because u only can research upgrades NOT abilitys (i think, because i cant find another way) so i need to add the ability like the upgrades and then its only activated when u researched it. i just can add the ability forever as normal one but i like to have it researchable. and thats only possible for upgrades like my knowledge. :(

hm... how about changing the tower to a unit??? then it would work fine. but i dont know how you use the towers in your map. if they are already placed its ok but if you have to build them you may place them via a summoning-based spell with duration 0 (endless).

maybe this could help you out :?

1. Go to the Object Editor and choose the critical strike ability you want.
2. Make an upgrade for the critical strike. Don't fill in the "Effect #" part.
3. Search for "Techtree - Check Dependencies" and set it to "True".
4. Below it is "Techtree - Requirements". Double click it and click the "Add Tech Button". Add your upgrade made from number 2.
5. Add the Critical Strike ability to the tower.

it sees to me only sunny_d understood what the problem is here....

this is what's the problem about : tikzz has the critical strike from sword master (is that the right name?) and he wants to put it on a tower, but as you may know, hero abilities can't be put on buildings (at least not under WE but i don't know with WEU). Basically, what trikzz asks is how to make a critical srike upgrade, not how to put it on a building's upgrade list.

now, i don't really know ow to do that...there may be a solution aside the one proposed by sunny_d.

i don't think he wants a Hero Tower. i think when he says "research", he meant upgrades.

and anyways, i only got the idea from Magic Sentry. Try looking at Magic Sentry and the Guard Tower.

There's also a neutral hostile critical strike, you don't have to use the hero critical strike. Create a new critical strike out of it (better than just changing this one). Now create a new upgrade from any of the standard ones (-> qwerty's part):

2. Make an upgrade for the critical strike. Don't fill in the "Effect #" part.
3. Search for "Techtree - Check Dependencies" and set it to "True".
4. Below it is "Techtree - Requirements". Double click it and click the "Add Tech Button".
Add your upgrade made from number 2.

i want to say.. im not that dumb lol i know that but there are two way i disable the field with "hero ability" and set it to false or i use the neutral one, which i did, but that isnt my problem.

i already tried it but if i open the requirements and use the add tech button it shows a box not with upgrades but with units?!?! i dont know why, because if i look at other buildings for example the magic sentry it is shown as tech types so wtf is it?! i can choose units as tech type?!?! hmm whatever i could fix that but it dont work... it is researchable but the critical strike i added to the unit is always usable, but i want that the units have it but dont use it until they "researched" it and for example on tech center u research the critical and after it the units (or towers however) can use it. thats mainly my problem because i cant find a way for this. and with the magic sentry i cant do it because they all have seperat abilitys like the dmg one u can only push dmg nothing more or with the sentry u can only see invisible units u cant modify it like the normal abilitys.... any other helping ideas?!?! seems to be a serious question huh?! D:

as i said i fixed this problem myself, but it still doesnt work, u can upgrade/research it with a seperate building, and i added the crit spell to the towers, but 1. the ability was activated and fully usable at beginning 2. as i researched it nothing changed ... so how can we fix that so that u must research it and after it is activated and usable...

-did you enter the requirements and all that to the ability

-in scenario properties/upgrades you have to set the upgrade to available - maybe at you it is set to researched

well, then it should work correctly but maybe - if thats not the case - use a function like set >your upgrade< to not researched or something....

sry for the long time until my response...

ok the scenario thing dont works... it just allows u to use this upgrade so u can for example allow on a melee map 3 of 10 abilitys, thats all it dont controls the research technology...

you should know what i want know ^^ but it seems to be a hard question and noone got a useful or an answer that could help me ^^

hmmm why must all be that dificult?! why cant blizzard just allow to change the research-abilitys to all u want like the dmg upgrade of the humans that u can change it to my critical abilty (researchable).
that would be simple but no they let it hard ^^ *rofl* whatever i think we will find a way... now or later ;)
