I see. Well this is not really a simple modification. First of all the chat would have to load messages on every page load so you can continue your conversation across page loads. I guess I could use stuff like browser local storage, a new HTML 5 thing. I would also need to code a UI like the facebook one. I think the idea is good.
It would keep the interactions of the hive more smooth and easy for users to use as well. And if the forum pages where to be able to be refreshed automatically please be able to leave an option to turn it of. ^^
Of course not. But I don't see why not give people the feature to attach the chat anywhere on the site if they want it. It does not really change the values of the site or anything like that.
Maybe a good idea - could make it easier to catch certain people - but I don't really see a strict need, since mostly one can just open the chat in one tab and go about on Hive and other places at the same time.
Also if implemented some day, it would be nice to have a disable button or something - in order to avoid loading it every time on changes a page.
But kudos to Ralle for being willing to consider implementing something like that.
