can someone help me scale a weapon i have downloaded?

Ive downloaded a crystal sword and i cant figure out how to make it bigger. Ive tried to make it bigger using vertex modifier but i cant figure how to do it. can someone please help me? thanks.

Open the modell (*.mdl) in vertexmodify and select all vertices (Ctrl+A), leftclick on Scale in the control panel on the right site. Now rightclick anywhere in the modell preview picture and move the cursor in any direction (still rightclicked).
