Neat idea with nice execution.
There is a very little amount of things that bug me. First of all, what's with that blur? I really think you should sharpen the edges a bit. The coloration of the icon is just monotone and plain, some stronger colors will make the whole icon more appealing. Some of the blades lack shadows, some highlights. And please add a slight shadow in the circle in the middle of the icon. Apart from that, there are really too many sword icons on the Hive, and I just don't see what makes this one stand out in front from the others.

It looks very good, the blade, but the effect closest to the blade is kind of blurry, why is that? I think you remove a bit of the "refined-ness" of the blade by having such a blurry effect next to it.

And; is that wallpaper/image from some sort of game? if that is the case, do you know which one?

The thing is that I made it in 3 layers, black bacground, sword and "glow" Well there were more layers for the sword but I marreged them down to adjust the hue to same values.
