I think you should make the straps flop down towards the ground. The leather of sandals isn't rigid.

See how the leather straps sag down a bit, and are not rigid like yours?
Then again, I saw other examples on google which had straps that didnt fall down, so you dont need to change it.

It doesn't really matter either way. It looks like a boot with black, but at the same time, like a sandal, can be used as either.
