Looks better, nice work.
Can you please define the face its hard to find since that glow is right on top of the face itself.
Hm.. the face looks like the statue of Ra to me, should I remove the glow anyway? It is just representing the sun FX, which is the main power of him.

I think the main issue here is that the bottom part of his beak almost merges with the background, using about same colors.

I think a highlight defining the shape of his head and making it more separate from the background would fix this problem. Here a quick edit:

Yep I figured this out, so I've edited my post above. Take a look and tell me if the issue still stands with the picture or not..

Yeah that's definitely more readable, but I thought you wanted to salvage the light source effect you had going on? The new version works better for a unit icon while the older one I think worked well for an ability, you could post both versions.

Goodjob on the icon btw.
