enjoy: You should add some stronger highlights, and make the effect itself perhaps seem translucent. Apart from that, it's need more definition from the background. It seems you overused the smudge tool, as well, and I'd recommend you don't.

The lines of the energies floating around the orb are too thick, resulting a fake-looking outcome. Although it does the job it is supposed to depict, there are plenty of energy icons around the hive with better results. You definitely need some tutorials of how to make your orbs look like... orbs. The result is also of low quality, a bit bland; it lacks the zest of colors.
