when turning it into an icon you should show more of the body, so that it's clear it's a belt.

I strongly suggest you to draw your pictures on a square base, so you do not need to cut things off.

i wouldnt mind having the centre gem as an item by itself.
and if you want to make it register to the mind as a belt, you better do as m0rbid said

My first thought before I saw the big picture was "Where is the belt?". Tilt the thing into a 45-degree angle in the x and z axis and remove the wearers body from the picture, then just zoom out a bit, that should make things more obvious. (x = left to right, y = back and forward, z = from floor to ceiling)
