Too me it doesn't look much like an orb, i like the colors.. But, maybe try to create an orb shape and then add those effects around it.

I see it but maybe add some white shines around it towards the middle area so it gives off as a sphere looking shape like this. I feel like the colors work here, but you need to rework them so you get the sphere type look with them.

Ah, I got what you mean. Yeah, this does not have a full front sphere volume, it's not supposed to have coz it won't work in this case. It's all a matter of lightsource and the desired orb material.

I guess I just have to make it look more round, and a bit of white shine as you said.
