Cool icon. Very original
Though I suggest you increase the contrast a little. I find it a bit dry after the update. The highlights are good, sure, but I really liked that dark look it had at first. Personal opinion, though

I think they have a pretty equal level of usefulness. But the dark one is way more bad-ass.

To Static:
Well, my suggestion is that you try to compromise.
Try to make the dark areas darker, yet keep the highlights. You know, find some kind of balance.
You could grab the dark version, and re-do the highlights, just make them smaller, to maintain that dark
feel.
Or you could run it through a contrast filter.

Like... Here, I did a quick Brightness/Contrast filter on it to show you my idea.
Just a minor change, to make it a tad darker over-all.

Edit: Uhm, I hope you don't mind I edited it w/o permission. Ofc, I don't intend to use it or take credit for it or blah-blah-blah.
