Sin'dorei300: I suggest u to try to put some texture on the object represented in ur icon.
Shadows and highlights are added considering the position of the source/s of light.
Also, add a suitable background that doesn't interfere with the foreground.

I would prefer a plate in front.... Imagine a boot that make pressure on the back of your leg while walking... Would be annoying...

I think that ur icon is too dark, and what i said in the previous moderation still applies.
I made some quick scribble upon ur icon, to make u understand that the boot can have texture and doesn't have to be so dark.
It is just a suggestion, no need to make exactly the same.

The icon is great and the reason I only have a plate on the backside of the model is because if I had one in the front it would clip through the leg while walking
