I uploaded a similar one a long while ago and it got rejected because it was too simple. But a check/tick is a simple yet useful kind of icon. I say this should stay. It's very useful.

Well I think as long as not every user is capable of creating even such a simple icon as this there's no reason why it shouldn't stay. :]

It could look more 3D, imho. Why not add depth to the icon? Something like this:

I prefered it flat but it'ld be no big task to make it look more 3D.
I added a more dimensional variation of this icon.
