if you're referring to WoW, the models are all so different that you can just show the blade in the icon. At custom made models it would be hard to tell them apart if only the blade is shown.

Perhaps show a little less of the handle, and more of the blade then? Rather than ONLY the blade.
Right now it appears as mostly handle.
Also, the model has kind of a flame effect, you should add that that to the icon as well

Nah, I like it like that. What's so much to see about the blade, the handle is waaay cooler Nice icon and model.
