Not much of flame in here. Only a red ruby that slightly resembles of it. Runes are quite invisible on the icon, you should darken them more, or make them red to get the concept and them visible. Slight more shading on the blade, please.

I am unable to see details on that blade on icon 
Until I looked at big picture i thought that blade is a block :/ And try to add "self" shading around that crystal(I know you have a little but it needs more)

I don't understand why warhog woesn't like the handle... i like it.
Updated the Edge, so the runes are more visible and added shading around the gem.

Maybe slightly darker runes, or make them red colored. Red resembles blood. Maybe also a bit more shine on the gem.

what i meant is that the handle looks wierd when all the pieces of leather are going in different directions.
EDIT: now that i look closer at it the shadows on the "guard" (?) seems out of place as the right one is brighter than the left one, cause right now it looks like the left "guard" is further away than the rest of the sword.
I dont know if i make any sense, but if not tell me and i'll try to rephrase

Interesting icon, but it just doesnt fit as a war3 icon. Maybe if you added a slight variation of light in the background, so that it isnt plain black.
Also, I like your handle. The handles seem to be the best part of all of your icons.
This is better than 3/5, but not quite 4/5, so I'll give it a 3/5 and raise it to a 4/5 after you've improved it a bit.

Handle is a mess... you dont see sword handles look like that.
Maybe if it's just a basic old sword.
But i think you want something more with this sword when calling it "blood blade".
Maybe ur just lazy...
Other thing, the "wings" above the handle are not looking the same at all...
I'd recommend to copy one of them and paste and rotate so the wings look the same.
Anyway... pretty good one.
