Battle for Wesnoth is a brilliant little TBS/RPG hybrid that plays like a much better version of games such as Fire Emblem, Advance Wars etc.
It is also open source (meaning it can be played on Mac and Linux, as well as Windows, with full cross-platform play support), and has a great community.
One of it's big selling points is it's sheer amount of content. There are hundreds of units, many different traits, weapon types, abilities etc.
I highly recommend it. It is available here.
Oh, and there's an iPod Touch port! ^^
