Attaching Rifles And Crossbows

So I remove a Gnoll from his hairy yet, clean crossbow. I use vertex modify and I click add marker. So where do you put the blue dots for weapons like the Marine Rifle? Im confused because I dont know. How do people make it stick as the Weapon Attachment Slot because isnt the Weapons Attachment Slot at the end of the weapon? Please tell me how to do it T_T
