I am completely ignorant about attaching variables on objects, so I would like to start with the simplest form I would ever need.

Is there any way you can extract information from a buff, say, the level of the spell that created it? And if more information can generally be attached to the buff, I would also wanna know how.

A buff itself is sort of an ability, however it doesn't behave exactly like an ability.

There are buff systems on the hive and wc3c such as ABUFF and whatnot. These are often used for complex buffs and buff systems. You may want to grab those to do what you want to do.

There is no way to tell what spell caused the buff and thus no way to check it's level without a system installed on the map or made yourself.
