ati 4870 or 5770

which one should i get?
they are both in the same price range
4870 has 256 bus 5770 has 128 but has teh imba low power consuption and dx11 and all the cool new technologies

You might also want to consider the GTX 260 (with 216 vertex shaders, not the 192 version).

4870, i have it myself.

The only thing better about the 5770 is the memory, which doesn't really matter if you compare their clocking speeds because interface wise the 4870 is faster.

The 4870 is SLIGHTLY faster, and I mean slightly, we are talking 2-4fps here.

Now, the 5770 uses less power, has DX11, and manages to be slightly cheaper

Don't even mention the GTX260, it actually performs worse than the HD5770 alot of the time (especially at higher Res and AA/AF), and it's price is currently $185

Seriously, look: GTX260

The HD5770 and HD4870 are priced similarly: HD5770 HD4870

I am not knocking the 4870 either, my computer might bite off my foot if I do ._.

It is still a great card in terms of performance

With XP the 5770 has only the consume less power part of it, no DX11 D: (without hacked versions)

Get DX11 cards over DX10/10.1 cards as they will remain compatible longer in the end. Also remember its performance is not really tested using DX11 as most benchmarks use games which still are at the DX10 phase. In DX11 games it has a chance of being faster, or alteast looking better. Also the lower power consumption lets you OC it more I would guess if you need more performance.
