AoS Theramore Isle 1.0

AEON OF STRIFE - THERAMORE ISLE 1.0



STORY
Theramore Isle is a rocky island east of Dustwallow. This is the Alliance's only stronghold in Kalimdor which is why the Orcish Horde intends to overrun the Isle and claim this vantage point for themselves. A group of powerful Alliance Heroes have been chosen to support the 2 Alliance Champions in battle. Knowing this, the Orcs have done the same as to not be at a disadvantage. Choose your side and fight until victory is yours, because once the Orcish Horn of War is blown, the combat will begin and it won't end until either the Alliance's Castle or the Orc Fortress is destroyed.

This map terrain is based on a modified version of Blizzard's The Frozen Throne's "Road to Stratholme"

Pretty good, but i think that the spawn time is too fast because the map just has a bit too many creatures. Sometimes there are so many of them that they surrond the tower and i cant even attack it, because they are already attacking it, but there is no more room for me!

Originality

An AoS map which is quite complex but pretty much original due to its new form. This game is not just a matter of Alliance vs Horde but also the Inhabitant Force also fight to those who disturbs them. Pretty much original featuring a neutral force which we know the Inhabitant Force.

Presentation

Presentation is quite good, very informative of its story and lore, Map features which draws player to play the map. But you could hide those screenshots which takes too much space in the description with hidden tags. Cover each images with

. Also, you could give emphasis with bold font and possible make their font bigger and add some color codes in it those that are the heading such as the texts: AEON OF STRIFE - THERAMORE ISLE, STORY, and MAP FEATURES.

Design

Minimap looks cool and somehow fitting, the loading screen is the default ones so I got no complains in it. Everything looks fine and nothing can cause some serious issues in-game.

Object Data

I do like the customized hero with customized spell but could have been better if the pickable heroes could have some custom spells because I did noticed that the NPC or AI heroes are the only heroes with custom spell. You could try giving the heroes some complex and awesome spells to make it better.

The file size is pretty much good and reasonable. It is quite small which is just 505kb but still brings alot of fun to the players.

Gameplay

Overall, this AoS is of different kind even if we are to say all of the things in it are just plain Warcraft III units and stuffs. This AoS is a disaster (dont take this word as an offensive one, it is not actually offensive) like in all-out wars which is really great and thrilling. Though, this AoS could have some sort of item shops, shop that sells items that raises heroes' stats. It is pretty much boring if you can only use your gold just for buying armies of units. It could also use some game commands as an addition to this AoS.

Hide the images in the description with the Hidden tags to make it clean and does not take much space.

Add some bold font or possible make the fonts bigger and add some color codes to those that are the headings.

The heroes could have some custom spells of their own, those that are triggered and not standard warcraft spells. I do think it can make the map better.

This AoS map could also have some item shops which sells item that raises heroes' stats. It is pretty much boring if you can only spend your money just for units and that's it.

The map could also use some game command as an addition to this AoS map.

I recommend to make the Headlines (the colored ones) to have bigger size than the usual text.
It's more appealing that way.

Also, adding some decoration would be nice (if you know BB Codes well, it's possible)

whenever I attempt to teleport, it said a unit can't be teleported.

There are actually items in this game when I played it for the second time, go near to a portal that is like an Obelisk and you should be fighting some Gnolls then there is a shop there that sells unique types of items for heroes.

The item shop are just kept well-hidden in-game.

Hello Lord Stormblade, at your request. I am reviewing your map, AoS Theramore Isle.
First of all, your description is appealing and gives the required information. You use BBCodes well and the screenshots look nice. I don't have too much else to say about the description. Onto the map.
The terrain suits the map and I like how the terrain layout is much different than traditional AoS layouts. I like how the map is cloaked in black mask and the player has to explore. However, I didn't like how there was no place for the players to heal inside the base. The fact that the fountains are located outside the base gives the map a lot of originality, but the players are unable to heal themselves until they secure the fountains. I think there should be some way to heal yourself while in the base, such as a paid heal at a shop. When a player gets to low health early game and the fountains are not secured, it seems best to have your ally teamkill you or suicide to the goblins so that the enemy heroes don't get exp. I did like the fact that the shops were located outside the base and how the players have to search for them. The obelisk's teleport mechanic is pretty cool and I like how you implemented sound effects for it. Speaking of which, I like the use of sounds for the map in general. It gives the map a polished feeling and not many maps use sounds, so it also gives it some uniqueness. Your heroes are well made and not imbalanced, and even though the spells aren't super unique, they still have some degree of customization and their tooltips are colorful and informative. None of the heroes I played seemed boring either. Your AI Champions were another cool mechanic and I really liked them. They had sound effects associated with them, used spells, and moved and acted intelligently. They provide a challenge to defeat and are one of the factors that makes this AoS original. I like how your items have colorful tooltips, but there aren't that many things to buy and I think adding in some more item options would be nice. That just about sums up my thoughts on the map, but here are my final thoughts and suggestions. I like the neutral faction and it gave the map originality. I like the diversity of units that spawn out of the bases. I like the bases themselves and the layouts (I especially like how the buildings that spawn flying units are on islands). I like the diversity of towers. The INFO tab is informative. The Scroll Of Teleportation doesn't seem to work. I like how the map supports singleplayer and multiplayer.
Now my suggestions. First of all, I think that unit spawns should be toned down slightly. It can get very hectic, maybe a bit too hectic. It makes lasthitting very difficult early game. Second of all, I think a bit more diversity in the neutral faction's units would be nice, such as a neutral hero or a stronger Goblin Blaster. Third, stronger creeps in the shop areas. Players won't go to those areas unless they have a lot of money, and if the player has a lot of money he or she is quite strong. The Gnolls provide no real challenge. Fourth, the Goblin Zepplin is not very effective against towers, which you say it to be in its description. It can destroy a tower, but not very quickly due to the fact that its damage type is ineffective against fortified armor. I think the cost should be increased and the Zepplin given Siege attack (or the demolish ability) so it could more live up to its description.
In summary, the heroes are fun to play, the map is hectic and violent, there are many original elements present, and the map is polished.

That "teleporting" problem.... kept hearing about it, didn't know what was going on, it worked my end of things... Until... I patched to 1.26 about 2 weeks ago. I never bothered playing on battlenet, so I had been running the 1.22 patch for over 5 years. Well, after patching, MY teleportion now failed as well. Thanks Blizzard!

So I fixed THAT problem, and also made about 100 other changes to the map (so far) since I released version 1.0. Check this page again in a few days, a VERY updated version will be posted. I'll attempt to write out a full change log when I update, but I think there will be TOO much to write. :xxd:

Decent map overall (though the lack of standard items can be offputting), but I find the biggest problem is the Horde being greatly advantaged. For example (single player): I started with the Alliance, filled up on as many top-level items as I could, took out their siege engines as soon as possible, etc. and finished the game in a little over an hour. By comparison, I then went with the Horde, played like a complete moron, even left the game running with my hero not moving from the resurrection spot, and came back to find the Horde killing the castle, achieving victory in 24 minutes.


Some minor issues:
The Goblin blasters are often able to take out one of the towers protecting the siege workshops before they die.
The AI heroes often end up standing still in the middle of nowhere for some reason.
The Firemage's infernals can apparently be stunned by his volcano spell.

So in spite of all this, still a fun game.

Building does not meet their races. (e.x Flame Cannon Tower need little wooden look)
As seen in screenshot some doodads can go through.
Bad Map description without template(Use Map Decription Creator for nice map descriptions. And get 5/5
Spells does not fit with heroes(as seen in screenshot, Mountain King casting starfall)
High Mana cost[In AoE or AoS maps, maximum mana I think is 200, (just noticing)]

Rating: 2.5/5 for more Bad Points
