All these huge projects

I see all these huge and cool looking/sounding warcraft 3 projects everywhere I look, be it here, wc3c, or just randomly in the web by clicking links from other map uploading sites. But I never actually saw one of these projects actually finished or near finished. I know that these projects are difficult to manage and stuff, but can anyone please post links to any cool looking projects that at least got to the fully playable open beta phase so that I get the hope that there is at least some point in trying to make something that big.

P.S.: With huge project i mean stuff like "Warcraft: Apocalypse" or "Warcraft 4 - the Edge of Eternity or "Warcraft III - fall of dreanor" and not succesful stuff played by a huge amount of players like DotA, all the ORPGs, and other innovative stuff made by a bunch of people.

You're right about your point. I've never since starting modding tried a mod which was completely finished which had the competent quality.
I have high hopes on XGM's completed english mods though.
