I've got an ability attached to an item. The player clicks the item and then can cast the items ability on himself or any unit. But I'm only using the ability attached to the item to trigger a dummy unit to cast a buff on the target unit. But the ability I used is 'unholy frenzy' I removed all the properties that had anything to do with the ability. But it still casts a grey cloud over the unit and shows the unit has the unholy frenzy buff.

Is there any way to get rid of this? And if not, what other ability can I use to achieve the same effect(Being able to cast on any unit without showing the buff/effect) ?
Thanks.

just create a new buff/effect with no model, icon and text and then add them to the ability.

But when I go to create a new ability, it forces me to use a preexisting ability. Which is the issue, I need to find an ability that allows the user to activate on click and not have any effect or buff created when using it.

Unfortunately, for spells like Unholy Frenzy, there must always be a buff on the target unit.
However, this doesn't seem to be your problem.

What exactly do you want the item to do?

Do you want to increase attack speed of a target unit with an item?
Then, just use Unholy Frenzy or Bloodlust as the item ability. Dummy units complicate this needlessly.
Do you want a different buff icon? Then, create a new buff in the object editor and change the icon.

I can provide an example if this is what you want.

In the object editor change
Art - Target
To nothing, remove the existing model, if this doesn't work or if there is already no model present then find the buff in the buffs tab and remove the model from that buff.
