Review - Gathilion
(Version Match 1st 2025)
Synopsis: Gathilion is a Barrens-themed melee map with a mixture of greenery included in a beautiful blend of colors. Map features optional naval elements with Goblin Shipyards which are not needed for the gameplay, however.
Map Aesthetics: Map looks gorgeous. Shallow water areas are quite flat (no Raise/Lower) tool - making them look quite flat, though it's understandable from the clarity perspective. Use of decoration is amazing - I love that the corners (which have no objectives) give room to play with unique eye candy around. The number of grass tiles used is surprisingly high and yet you have managed to blend them beautifully. I love the use of lowered (sunk) bridge to act as the border of water and land. Smart thinking (I will steal this idea in the future map of mine).
Map Layout: The layout looks very nice. The minimap is a bit hard to read due to the mixture of water and green grass tiles on map - but there is little you can do about this. Ships are optional and offer not too much power, but they do still allow skipping some pathways quickly. Good job.
Neutral Objectives: As always, good placement of creeps and neutral objectives. Gate near the expansion site is a nice touch though it does not offer too much extra strategic points.
Map Gameplay: A very solid melee map for two players. Approved.
