So, you want people like me, who use the features introduced in newer versions to either start again from zero because of no backwards compatibility or move to Reforged?

@Shar Dundred: I want some selected and fixed previous versions of the game to be available from Blizzard the same way 1.27a is, and I want it the legal way. And that includes any relevant version ranging from v1.28.0 to v1.31.1, in any language and for any OS. Ideally, those fixed versions will cohabit peacefully with the current official one (1.32.8) or the PTR (1.32.9). And I think we can influence it in the same way we have always done so far, that is: by supporting Blizzard.

I have previously written that imho this is all a test. Blizzard imho wants to see if we really care about *any* previous version. v1.27 gathered the least negative comments regarding its bugs, therefore it was the *safest* to let free out of the barn. Meaning that if it is well received, it could be the *first*, and not the only one.

Blizzard has the technology so that other full downloadable versions can be distributed the same way. Forget the battle.net app thing! For example v1.29.2 can run without it on a Windows XP VM. The Battle.net app is a means of distribution (among other things), the game should not require it in order to run.

Yes but look, the Hive is not Blizzard. Kam is just one person at Blizzard and I do not think that he can make decisions like what to release.
We would all want more official versions but they are not there. Who knows how long it will be until that changes - or even if at all.
I am using a legit 1.29.2 version since I kept a backup but it also means that neither 1.27 nor Reforged users can play my content. Should I be unable to share my content until Activision fixes its issues?

I am still wondering about his experiences with the TFT downloader. Could there be a TFT 1.26a digital version somewhere on Blizzard's servers? I am both confused and very interested. Feedback desperately needed on that one...


Basically, I have already expressed the same things on several Profiles, and I have already provided the means to find the downloaders on several profiles and threads. They are not plain obvious on the forum, but they *are* there. One only has to pay attention to my posts.

In fact, it was @deepstrasz himself who opened the way for me, by linking to the February page on Battle.net. I simply dug a very little bit deeper.

I feel guilty then and am sorry for all this mess on people's profiles.
See, it's not silence that makes things happen, it's noise. We are making noise with that thread that we want the official versions back and that's putting pressure on them. If we shut up like you want us to do, then it will go to oblivion and we'll end up with foot prints fixes per yearly patch for Reforged.

Yeah, so if Shar uses 1.29 and it now cannot be officially distributed anymore, doesn't that make him a pirate by your standards, like downloading a movie from the internet? Because, he did not pay for 1.29 but for the game and 1.29 is obsolete at least in official terms.

It's obvious that they aren't working to do what you want them to when those official links are hid behind obscurity.
Who cares about random posts man? We are trying to play the freaking game in a sane and stable manner.

@pyf Be that as it may, I fail to see a solution to the points I have brought up in your messages. This is not just about me as individual, this issue is shared by many people who dared to first update and then stopped updating at any point.
Your links do not help these people.
You can be unhappy with the current situation, we all are. There is no perfect solution right now, that is the sad fact.

This isn't any test, imho. A "test" would be silly from Blizzard's point of view.

Fact remains that the game was released unfinished, and vital aspects have still not been fixed (custom campaigns). As long as custom campaigns aren't a thing I will continue to develop maps in 1.31 and redistribute cracked game versions privately to any and all who needs it.

Blizzard hasn't shown their consumers any loyalty, so why should we as consumers show them any? It's a matter of what I paid for and what I have received. I have upheld my part (the money), Blizzard has not upheld their part (the good stuff).

You can argue that I should stick to 1.27 but that argument is silly considering I already upgraded my maps to 1.31 when that was new, so downgrading isn't an option. The same goes for many others.

When custom campaigns are re-introduced I will upgrade to the latest patch, but until then I will stick to 1.31.

For blackjack and hookers entertainment, one might want to go to the homepage of GCW. Not that I have anything against it personally, but the fact is that on Strydhaizer's Profile I had mentioned this expression previously, as a joke. Little did I know that some days after that, a link to 'blackjack' and 'hookers' would *effectively* be provided on one of our featured (=pinned) threads.

For those reading this, my entire Profile posts+comments have been removed from his Profile afaik. I was providing him some info about what is legal and what is not. I probably still have a backup copy of it though, haven't checked it, cuz I do not need to refer to it. for now.

Any user is free to remove literally anything from their profile. That is why the feature exists. I also do not see how this is even relevant at all for this discussion. He obviously was not interested in what you had to say if he removed it which is his right to do.

Thinking Blizzard will some day fulfill all our dreams by just staying true to them is, if I can put it that way, the same as a simp who believes twitch girls will sleep with them if they just pay money for their streams :D

Rao Dao Zao expressed his frustration about how he wanted to get a hold of 1.13. I therefore have provided a solution to do so, for some historical research work.

From one comment on deepstrasz's Profile, Kyrbi0 joined as a casual observer, asking more and showing some interest about the 1.27a digital version. To offload deepstrasz's Profile, I have written a full answer for all the legacy downloads. Kyrbi0 expressed that the TFT digital installer for TFT was 1.26a. This led to me providing extra tech support, even very *basic* one. Ultimately, I will realize that his setup of many versions of the game is (very) nonstandard. I am still waiting for feedback regarding his downloaded versions of TFT. As for me, I have downloaded the US release again, and I am getting v1.27a always.

Frankeninstalls can be avoided by using fixed standalone versions of WC3, provided by Blizzard. Unless the Hive Workshop is ALSO supporting frankeninstall setups of any version(s) of the game maybe?

I have just finished my testing of ReplayKit, therefore I could not make Kyrbi0 aware of my findings yet. Now please explain me how I am not still in the process of helping him, as one of his versions (probably slapped in a folder) is 1.26a

The problems with tech support imho all really started to happen with 1.30.0 and the CASC storage. This is why an (illegal) archive of 1.29.2 files was a (supposedly temporary) necessity at the time.

I was refering to my earlier post about people using the versions between 1.27 and 1.32 which, according to what you said, you wanted to be removed as well due to not being officially distributed by Blizzard. I was asking you how your links would help any of them if those versions were removed.
Archives of those versions still are a (supposedly temporary) necessity unless you want everyone who "dared" to update to 1.28/.29/.30/.31 to either start again from zero due to no backwards compability or forced into Reforged.
How do your links help the people who rely on those archives?
