Depends on what I'm making, when creating the gryphon I went full free hand, however with my models like Thrall, Arthas and the Footman I use original concept art and Cinematic screenshots as references.

So you just look ag tge picture and know how to create your mesh? I was thinking more of a having a reference background for the mesh and placing vertices following the picture.

Oooh, no I don't trace my meshes ontop of images. Learning how to read shape and form language and creating it yourself is an important first step for an artist :3

I see. Thanks. Looks like I have a lot to learn about modeling.

In order to train yourself for shape and form language reading I heavily suggest you add 2D art to your arsenal, it will help you greatly when constructing meshes.

Yeah, I see your meshes are simple in shape, but the textures are what makes them perfect.
Even I do know texturing(2D) is important in modeling as a whole, I don't really have skills enough for that, it's too hard for me. I can't even draw something nice on the paper, that's the problem.
And, of course, there is animating, that I can't really do, even if I tried several times now.

I couldn't do it at first either, years and years of practise my friend! No need to beat yourself up, we all start somewhere. Keep at it, stay dedicated and make sure to have fun, that's how you learn! ;)
