Lovely! I wish I could provide a more competent feedback, but I'm clueless on this subject. So take my opinion with the proverbial grain of salt.
If the objective is to depict a blinding light, maybe the very first ridge of mountains could be colored even darker and with a sharper edge?
For the valleys in the background, maybe it would look good if you made a horizontal whiter line of clouds representing fog in the valleys? maybe this could give the impression that these background mountains are located in the far away distance
