Nice new looking loap map, I'll give it a try next time I get a chance. Maybe you could add a cargo ship minigame, navigate the ship across an ocean full of whirlpools and patrolling monsters (like playing frogger maybe). Doing it faster gives you a bonus. Upgrading the ships buys permanent upgrades like a 1 use shield, point defence against smaller enemies, short speed boost, larger cargo etc.
A pirate player could invest in a ship to fight the ship and the police could have coast guard patrol boats etc.
