Apparently it's a morning star only if the ball has a handle (and the ball spikes) and called a flail otherwise. The flail/chained morning star still has a handle/shaft although connected to the chain which starts from the actual handle shaft the wielder grips.

True, bone name mislead me, and I was 10h in editing at the time, thanks for correcting my mistake
