Why doesn't the sword move like it's supposed to be? linearly to each keyframe, but instead erratically in between.

too many key frames, you should try deleting some or all the key frames associated with the swords bone, except the very first frame, and then position it in the first frame where you want it, then check and make sure it isnt moving at all, and then copy paste the first frame into the last frame and see if that hasnt fixed it.
I think what is happening here is you (I think) tried to adjust the swords bone to counter vertex clipping and some how you used movements in your key frames instead of rotations?
weapons bones usually do better with rotation animations instead of movement animations, similar to knees and elbows, movements are usually better for Root bones and origin bones or bones used in flying units.

Ive never seen this editor before, so I cant help you too much with it im afraid. but your model looks cool. so well done so far.

It was really the interpolation type of the node. I used Retera Model Studio, a software developed by Retera dedicated for Reforged model editing. It's a very powerful tool. Thanks to it and the Twilac version that I started using yesterday, I can see myself creating quite some custom models and animations for the next project.
