I think it looks good. but decent looking lava will always be difficult. regardless of basically everything.
some of my lava doodads might help, but even if you don't like the ''slag look'' you might wana add doodads onto your lava any way, such as some fire, or some tinted orange bubble's doodads. just smoke won't cut it (for us lava enthusiasts any way lol)
Perhaps I shall make some more ''lava'' doodads...
@kellym0 Hey, I haven't added details on my map yet, just the basic, but I will add more details to it later, aswell as other places on the map Btw, the lava is flowing, so it doesn't look so bad as it does when it is still (like in the picture).
@kellym0 I stick to do it like Blizzard does it, adding details in the end Gets a much better overview then in the long run then. Also, you get more time for imagination of how the zone shall look like, before adding details in
I always felt motivated by details =) seeing the same thing over and over ends up getting me to change it, different styles different visions.
If you want a more dungeon-y abandoned feel to it, you might want to check out some of the less seen village doodads from the ultimate terrain map on wc3c which has things such as tables and chairs of all shapes and variations. you could tint them darker to look older and more burnt/ruined and have some furniture to fill your empty spaces.
