That is hardly true. I mean walls can be crossed over with siege towers, with air forces. But I don't know why are you telling me when I considered only harbor and main gate?
Between the city of Stormwind and Elwynn forest there is a bridge with water below - only across that bridge + from the harbor can you enter Stormwind. The walls are in contact with water, not the ground, thus making siege-machinery useless... (I researched while making some DPWIKI-pages, thus I stumbled across this pic, and I felt like I wanted to answer ^^)
