      Looks very good, congrats!

      How was this textured?

The leaves seem to be casting shadows on underlying bunches as they sway, however there is no shadow on the ground. Very neat! How did you create this effect?

How many polies are we talking about here?

Thanks very much. That is the intention.

I made the textures, taking photographed images from Textures.com and editing them a bit to fit my needs ( For example combining different leaf textures and sharpening the images and so forth ).

The bunches of leaves only lay shadows on themselves, since they are the same model (not every bunch). A ground shadow is intended but not yet done.

This tree consists of around 30 different objects. Each model can consist between 30-500 faces and up to 1000 vertices. Leaves take up majority of the object count (around 60-70%). I'd say a finalized tree (without roots) would consist of around 3000 polygons.
