The idea is that the forest is symbolic of multiple resources, even though it is one type. The resources are leather, food, wood, and herbs and I am considering giving it a more representation through upgrades/research. Secondary resources are minerals, symbolic of stone, iron, quartz and gold. Food resources are just profit or profit factors. The lore behind that is each kingdom/faction is already rich enough they just need to follow a cap for maintaining each unit's pay, creature handling or vehicle maintenance.
