Castle vs Castle Flame Edition 2.0c

It has always been my dream to create a map, but not only a map, a map that could make a difference, help people. This is that map...Flame_Phoenix

Hi guys, this is my map, from clan SOR. I've been developing this map the last 3-4 years, but only now I started working on it due some issues. This map is a Castle vs Castle map, it is by far the best I've ever seen and played. This is the beta version, it has bugs and needs testing.

You are invited to be an alpha tester if you want. You will gain reputation points if:
- You find and report bugs
- You give me good suggestions on how to improve the map
- You suggest spells, models or icons
- If you are a good tester, your name will appear in the loading screen.

Reason's to why you should play this map:
- Unique Items for you to use
- Unique Waves for you to buy
- 2 New Unique races: Blood Elf and Chaos Orc
- 4 new Tavern heroes
- A detailed multiboard with information about the game
- This map is open source, so you learn everything and gain experience
- Every Hero has a detailed story connected to the game (if not it will soon be added)

History, Major Changes:

Version Beta 1.1
- Remade and balanced the Wave system, now you can buy waves with lower costs and balanced spawns
- Remade and balanced the spawn system, now the castles spawn less units and there is more synchronization
- Added Shop System, now the shops can travel across the map, also each shop also has 2 pages of items
- Remade the welcome text, now it is more informative and fun to read
- Player 9 can now benefit from the Night Elf tutorial, Players 10 and 11 will have to wait
- Added the shop system!! Now it is even funnier to play! Remember to buy items and waves!

- Remade the hero Sylvana from the High Elfs. Now she is a hell of a hero and I am sure most of you will enjoy her.
- Remade and updated the code of the Blademaster from the Chaos Orcs. Made some spells more powerful and efficiency was increased in all his 4 spells.
- Fixed a bug with the description of Shocking Aura, the description is now correct.
- Gold in mines was improved to 150.000
- Fixed various spelling errors
- Now first hero is free and costs only 5 food
- Ranger hero (Sylvanas) now costs food as well

Version Beta 1.3
- Fully remade the Night Elf tutorial system. Now it is MUI and has more functions the player can use. Press F9 for more information.

- Fixed the iddle workers bug. Now the human peasant will no longer appear!

- Fixed a bug with the Ram Knoackback ability, now it won't fire on buildings, mechanical units, dead units and air units. Also improved the performance of the code.
- Updated the "Launch Seal" spell from Druid Dwarf to be more balanced and to have a minimum range (so the paraboloic effect does not look stupid =P ).
- Fixed Chaos Barracks tooltip
- Remade Chaos Grunt unit. Now it has better abilities and fits in the theme decently.
- Remade the Chaos Berserker unit. It has new abilities and is fits in the theme better as well.
- Remade the Chaos Cart and fixed a bug with its air attack animation.
- Balanced all units from Chaos Orc Barracks.
- Replaced Greave with ChaoticRage.
- Now Chaos Stronghold is also able to research Chaotic Rage ability.
- Replaced Glorious Charge with Light Shield in the Bandit Lord hero. Now he has a usefull ability at last.
- Replaced Summon Gate with Fiery Summon in the Summoner. Now this hero (finally) has a decent ultimate that is not crap =P.
- Completely remade the Summoner's "Summon Fel Beast" ability. Now it is balanced to be a counter-part of the "Summon wolf" spell from the Orc hero and now it is (finally) balanced for melee game.
- Added CreepSys systems. Now some creeps revive in their areas.
- Replaced "Orb of Zeus" spell with "Ligthning Grenade" in Electron hero (from the tavern). Now his skills are more usefull.
- Fully remade and balance Lightning Invocation from Electron hero. Now it is bug free and it is (finally) decent to use and is faster.
- Completely remade the Orc Warlorck from Chaos Orcs. Now he is a ward unit made to counter orc's doctor.
- Changed Loading Screen of the map! (now we finally have a decent loading screen!)
- Removed shield dwarf, he was a bugged hero with no strategy defined. By doing this the map also becomes smaller to accomodate other models that will be more important.
- Removed a few model imports that are no longer necessary.
- Remade the history of the Druid Dwarf to fit the removal of the Shield Dwarf.
- Removed ABC timing system (finally).
- Removed DebugLib system.
- Updated BloodBound ABility and fixed.
- Changed the voice of Electron hero
- Remade the tier upgade message system. Now it is a lot smaller, the same player doesn't get repeated tier tips and he is the only player to hear the sounds.
- Replaced TimedEffects system with TimedHandles. Now I have more freedom for eye-candy in spells =D.
- Made major changes in the inner structure of the map so it could work for the next patch.
- Changed the attack type of all chaos units to piercing, magic and normal, in order to balance the game and the race.
- Due major changes that will occur in the next patch, the shop system in now down for a remake. Shops will only have 1 page inventory items and they will not travel.
- Due major changes that will occur in the next patch, the NE tutorial is not just down, it was also removed. Maintaining such a complex system with the new update coming would not be worth the effort.
- Due major changes that will occur in the next patch, the following heroes are down for a remake: Chaod Rider, Electron. These heroes have spells removed are being remade.
- Summoner hero is also down until a new design line comes up. He was too unbalanced to be played with, now his unbalanced spells got removed.
- Replaced the Urn item with Greave item on Chaos Orc shop. Now they have a tier 1 item very useful.
- Rebalanced Strenght Armor by lowering the chance of success.
- Fixed a bug on the Power Jump dwarf ability. Now the hero won't lose mana if he can't jump.

Version 2.0b
- Now Soul Ward doesn't raise skelies from dead summoned units.
- Diablo car siege unit now is able to attack buildings.
- Changed attack type of Chaos Machine to siege.
- Chaotic Rage will no longer activate on buildings, mechanical units nor on allies. Now it also requires the upgrade to work.
- Chaotic Rage is now a tier 2 upgrade and costs more gold.
- Fixed Chaotic Rage ability, now it won't destroy shield for no reason.

- Added the black screen again. The prevents AI from acting stupid and allows players to synchronize at the start of the game.

- Fixed an important exploit with Chaotic Rage, now it won't affect units that are not supposed to be affected and it will not affect buildings as well.
- Fixed Rider Devil's Speed upgrade, now it increases speed instead of taking it away.

- Remade the description of the Chaos Orcs Race.
- Fixed the description of all upgrades from the Lumber Mill.
- Fixed the description of the Greave item.
- Removed Kodo's Vault. This makes part of a preparation for a new unit and strategy for this race.
- Removed Chaos Riderless Kodo, this unit was bogus and useless to the new main strategy of the race.
- Chaos Bestiary now trains Fel Orc Kodo.
- Now Fear Aura's buff corresponds to the buff of an aura.
- Added Myre to credits!
- Improved the README file a lot. Now you have more information about the credits there so you can research for your project =P

one of the models is small and is good the shield model however i bugged and so I can't use it (the origin point is not on the correct position).

What's the meaning of that? I'm a newbie. So, don't know so much about resources in this forum.
Ok, models have points, attack, origin, head, overhead and many others. When you cast a buff on a unit, per example, the buff will be attached to the origin point of that unit.
If the origin point is bugged, the buff will not be properly displayed. One way of knowing if a model works well in game is to test it by casting on him some spells:
1 - Blodlust
2 - Inner Fire
3 - An aura

If the buffs are displayed properly, than it works fine.
Another important thing are animations, please see if the model has nice animations we could use as well as the basic animations (such as a "die" animation).
Don't forget to give rep to those who help you.
I will make more than that, if you keep aiding with such devotion, your name may also appear in the loading screen. (and ofc you get +rep)

I will see your suggestions soon and comment them soon as well.

About the first Icon pack, I really didn't find any use for it.
In the second, I will convert an icon and use it for my Critic Aura (the skeleton face)
About the 3rd model, I won't use it, because that hero is perfect with that model. The objective is, as I said, to create a bound to the game's story.

No problem at all.

About next version, I am remaking the full tutorial system. If I succeed the next version will most likely be 1MB shorter or something very close to that.
However this will take long time.
I need an opinion:
- do you people prefer to wait more, and to have a new version with more changes?
- do you people want to see the next version out asap, with new icons and items (as well as a spell for the orc hero) ?
 
Ok, so next version will have:
- Some bugs from HE fixed
- Goblin items with new icons
- A new icon for a passive ability for the warchief orc
- a new ability for the warchief orc "mind mastery"
- a great portion of the tutorial system remade

Meanwhile, for the HE hero, the knight, I believe he should be a "tank / light" hero. Therefore I am opened to suggestions for spells you may like to see him have.
I will not accept spells that use the following systems:
- Kattana's Handle Var system
- Vexorian's caster system
 
They are all good spells Byaku, however please note that:
- Shadow spell is not what some one would expect for a light hero
- The Axe spell pack is quite good, but the hero is a knight in a horse and not a tauren

Ok guys, About the tutorial system, The ranged tutorial is +/- half done. I will soon start recoding the "stage two" section of the tutorial, and then stage three will be fast.
I hope to finish it in the next few days.
About the hunters tutorial, I haven't seen it yet, and so it is likely it will take a little bit longer.

When I am done remaking this system, I will import some new icons, a new Icon system (maybe) to easy my life, and a new spell for the chaos warchief.
After that I will start remaking the knight and add some new items to the game (to the plane shop xD).

you are describing a very rare event. If you downloaded the RAR file, than you must unpack it, if you downloaded the version of the presenting post, than you can't open it as it is protected, you must place it on your download folder and then play single player with it trough there.

Please note there is also an Open Source Version, in the RAR file. You are most welcome to see it, as long as you read the "README" file.

Fiery Dash - This is like Omnislash, sorry but no xD
Energy Shield - This looks excellent for a tank / light hero. While it is also a good support spell it has many uses I can think of. I may yet use this spell =)
Spellpack - the spells are too easy and too unbalanced (we wouldn't want an entire army invulnerable, besides that spell already exists in the Orc race)
Deflect - Good for a passive ability, no doubts which will fit a tank hero in perfection.

About the icon packs, I see you have found a great artist - Crazy_Russian. His job is well known, however I don't think I'll use any of those icons for now.
I would also like you to search for me some spells for the knight in wc3campaigns if possible.

About the model, there is no need for one, Garithos will be the knight because he is connected to the story.

About the spell I am going to see them now.
About the next version, I am almost done remaking the "ranged" tutorial, I just had a counter part yesterday as I had to remake it once again (because I found an easier way to do it and so I had to start all over again). If you guys have anything you would like to see improved, please let me me know.
About the hunters tutorial I have not started it yet, and the next version will probably only have the ranged tutorial. I will remove the Hunter's tutorial and add a full remade version of it not in the next version, but in the version after it. What do you guys think of the idea ?

Also Byaku, could you find me a confuse spell ? This is what I have in mind:
1 - illusion spells help confusing
2 - mind control spells are also good

If you find it, this spell will be released in next version.
Also, For now the spells of the knight are:
1 - Not found
2 - Energy shield
3 - Deflect
4 - Not found

So now I need an ultimate and a regular spell. that could "scream" light !

Holly Explosion - A good spell in deed, I think I can even modify it, or re-create it to a new standard of quality. No doubt it is a good candidate.
Holly Spells - they seem good in the pictures, but I can't test them =S
Holly Strike - an old spell I've seen before. I think it requires WEU, but i think I can change it to JASS without any problems. I don't know If I am going to use it, I would like to see some other spells, although that is not bad, it is still just an "Axe Wave" from the tauren chieftan.
Spellpack - I really don't think anything from there would fit "Light" description ...

Dark Confusion - Nah, It just casts slow to the enemy unit and faery fire.
Mind Confusion - The idea is quite nice, but the effect is not the best, after all Creature can't attack.
Mind Games - I like it, think we may have a winner I am going to remake this ability and maybe add something new =)

Dopplewalk and Juxtapose - A classic Dota spell, I want my map to be better than Dota xD

About the knight it will take some time I want to change/remake some abilities.
The Mind Game spell is something really nice, I think I will remake it and use it on game.
I still need to give a good look to the code but it is most likely to have it on my map's next version.

Ok guys, about the tutorial, the hunters tactic will be removed (i will add it on a later version) and the Ranged Tactic will be remade.
I finished it yestrday, howeve I need your opinion in something.
The tutorial is a set of guide lines the players are not forced to follow them.
Currently I think I should add 3 commands:
"-lastTip" displays the last information tip
"-lastGuide" displayed the last guide line. Problem is that there are many guide lines, and I don't think showing only one is as helpuff as it should =S
"-currentMission" displays the mission you have to complete before continuing.

What do you guys think ?

I don't find any illusion spells help confusing. I just only found those two ability
 
Ok guys, I've been thinking, I will also add a new command to the tutorial: "-quit" which will allow you to quit the tutorial and stop all guide lines and messages.
After adding "-currentMission" and "-quit" commands I will just polish the code a little and then it will be ready.
After that I will add the new icons and the new Chaos Orc spell.
I already remade a great part of the tutorial system, however unfortunately for me it only reduced the size of the map in 0.2MB not as much as I was expecting. Although the map is a a lot faster to work with now, I still need to find a way to reduce the size of models it uses.

Ok guys, Good news, the tutorial system was now remade and it is finished. It has the Ranged tactic only, maybe I will add the hunts one day later if I need.
Now I am moving on forward and I will add the mind spells Byaku suggested.
After that I replace some icons, and BAM, new version is out =)

Anyway, new version was not released yet. I am finishing the mind spell for the chaos orc hero. I am remaking one of your suggested spells, and so far, it will be something like this:
Confusion: Selects all units in the target AOE frives them crazy, by changing their owners !!Sounds easy doesn't it ? But it isn't ! Every owner has a 10% chance of controlling each unit ! And yes, this includes Neutral players as well xD

Thing I may add (don't know yet, need an opinion) The victim will return to his respective owner if it's hp gets lower than 40%.

So, what do you think guys ?

About the new version, you will be able to download it here THW and in dday, however I would prefer you people to start using dday, since it is now the official hosted project of that website, and I have forums there for specific information.

Per example, I need ideas for my creeps, and my reward system !

Okay, I got it working, the reason why the map wasn't in the folder I chose was that that folder was somehow bugged, so when I just wanted to try to dl it on different folder (thought that there is nothing else you can do :s) and it worked! Woohoo, it works now. So long I post this after I've tested your map and here's my review:

[/] Enemy castle owned my team (I played in solo) without any coms on the enemy side. :asad:

If you are telling me that some units are benefiting from wrong upgrades, than that is a bug, please tell me which units they are and the upgrades so I can fix it.

The light spells you suggested are too old to use. Some of them don't even work on today WE. I need better light spells. If you could find some in wc3c or THW or some other site, I would thank.

Also, are you good with suggestions ??

Hello again! Found a bug/bad point:

Buying waves has it's bad side at least on solo, I got a screenshot saved on JPG which shows that the moving shops are too bad, they stuck like the gnome shop in the screenshot I got for ya (still that it seems like there isn't much units, there were until my team units killed most of them, but shops still stucked), it doesn't move, so enemy can buy how long they want items from there! But so has other one stucked on my castle too! That's the bad on buying waves, or if you dont wanna remove them, you should make at least ground-moving shops just stay in their positions, and why has the helicopter shops added if they have nothing to sell at the moment? Okay there's the picture:

:ao: Could you please send here hive what you need, you know here i've spent alot time for posting, bug reporting and all, and it's sad that I should start on other place like a noob, you know all you've done - still you have to do all again :asad:, so I would be happy :ap: that you could post here what you need. And about that creep thing, well I think about that but right now I can say there should be alot different creeps - like 75% is wolves, they are my favourites but you know it's not funny to kill just same, other creeps on your map are blue dragons, murlocs and that gold mine place guards on mountain! :ain:

About the light ability :
Sacred Circle

Creep ability:
Wolf :Enrage
Murlocs :Water Explosion
Huskar :Fear Aura

Random potion (health or mana) will be good for item drop

Sacred Circle: A well known spell I had already considered. I may yet use it, if I don't find anything else. PS, please keep searching xD
Enrage: far too powerful for a level 2 wolf ... need something else, maybe some passive spell ?
Water Explosion: Seems good for water elementals, still, I think we need something else. I will give it a look though.
Fear Aura: I bet this would look awesome in one of my heroes, to bad I can't use it lol... Chaos Kodo beast already has fear aura, which decreases enemies attack, and I was thinking of some support spell for huskars, since they are pretty good healers. Maybe a weak light spell ? Suggestions ?

You really should see my Sun Ray spell, It started as being Holy Explosion remade, but it is a lot better.
SunRay - spell opinion - Wc3campaigns

Also, for now it damages Undead Units, but I think I will also damage Chaos Orc units, because they are connected to the undead.
I am open for suggestion about my Sun Ray spell !
The shield spell is having trouble for now, let's see what I can do ... and the Confusion spell is also having troubles, so new version will still take a while.

I don't know the Purity wave ability weak or not, but if the ability powerful you can change the damage, right!

OK, each time a player trains a certain amount of units, he gets rewarded. Ar first, the reward system was meant to be a huge army, however now I see it will cause great unbalance, and so I can't add it. Also, the terrain is being remade by ~Void~, so I believe the castle will be changed.
Therefore I need ideas for the reward players will get. You can see how many units you need to train, in the multiboard on the "Missing" column.

Water Explosion: likely not, I need something more "weak", because murlocs are weak, easy to kill creatures. They are also evil xD
Evasion Aura: Too powerfull, I use an similar aura on the Warchief hero, Critic Aura.
Purity Wave: Good for a strong Huskar, no doubt if I have some level 6 Huskar I will use something like that! However I am thinking of something easy for lv3 ...(But I will probably need AI) =S
Spell pack: Sorry, didn't find much stuff =S Good ideas for a strong polar bear, absorb damage is quite nice, but the others are either baddly coded or just not worth it. sorry that.

How about one special item, if the item used the player's hero will have some bonus damage for a few second?

There are 3 levels, therefore 3 rewards ... I need something adapted to melee ... to b.net or something epic !
