Custom Dialauge System

When you're watching a cinematic subtitles are appearing in a box in the bottom of your screen I was wondering if any box similar to that could be created anywhere on the screen with text and if it could be interactive. Say a player is presented 3 choices and he can type in either 1, 2 or 3 in the chat and depending on his answer different new lines of text would appear depending on his choice. This would be made in single player so there's not need for player variables.

I understand that what I'm requesting is no simple thing and if you decide to help me out I just want to thank you in advance.
