i'm making a really huge map terrain, but it laggs too much wen i use "view entire map",and takes much time to save everytime

i have a Phenon x6 3.0,8 GB ram with a GTX570

i think is not my system problem

anyone know how to make it a little faster?

Rather than using view entire map, do ctrl+shift and then use down arrow. This will expand clipping plane. Use up arrow to put back. Use mouse wheel to move in and out.

Viewing the entire map of a huge map would lag most machines =P.

For saving, there's no real way around this. If you have a lot of code and a very big map, it's going to save very slowly. My only suggestion is to build things in small tester maps and then port them over to the main map when you're done. That's what I do whenever I have to deal with large maps =).

You could also try overclocking your CPU. Remember that WC3 and its editor are mostly single threaded meaning little to no benifit is gained past using a dual core for it. Ofcourse this is a stupid idea, kind of...

The massive delay you get is due to the share scale of the map.
1. WC3 and WE are old (designed for DX8 and such technologies of the time) so are less efficent at rendering.
2. Not all objects data is loaded with the map thus when it first loads an area it is computationally intensive (so loading the whole map is extreemly demanding).
3. The actual graphics system used by WE and WC3 have certain limits (the classic being 500 tauren chieftains viewed at once causing the map to go garbage).

This is probably the reason they added a map size limit in the first place. If your computer can not handle it, imagine computers from 7 years ago.
