Aight I've been modereting this part of the fourm from some time now, watching you guys talk about your supercomputers so i decided to post my current situation in hope for some advice/help/donation/mockery/solace.

So here are my computer stats:
*make sure you are sitting down, this might cause extreme laughter*

CPU AMD Septom ~1,1 (as in not even 1,1! single core ofcourse)

RAM 1gb (my pride and glory, the only thing somewhat up to date)

Video Card NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 256mb

And last and probably least my 1024x768 flatscreen monitor? What's so bad you say? The twenty something thin black lines of burned out pixels that go horizontaly from side to side accros my screen and just hurt me every time i notice they're there.

Date i bought it february 2006 same config except ram was 256 and vc was 128
Last upgrade 2008

my finances are about a 100 euro generated from my low paying high manual labor almost slavelike summer job

I am just sick and tired of playing the same damn games for 6 years but everytime i talk to the finance department they either laugh or cry, like litteraly.

I put up with a notebook with pretty much the same values. I was able to play Wc3 and a whole lot of other games. Maybe not like Sc2, WoW or any other newer game that requires a good computer although I still got a hell of a lot of entertainment out of it. This was for about 2 years that I put up with this and my computer was still one of my favorite hobbies. You've just got to learn how to make the most out of anything.

I did actualy manage to run starcraft 2 on a prayer but there were never more than 10fps and each loading took like 5 minutes! So i did not enjoy the game at all plus everything had to be on uber low.

Oh and i know how to make the best out of anything but theres only so little I can do, and i've been doing it for the last 4 years.

A few months ago flash also let me down too so for me 360p is the new 1080p. Seriously even on youtube i cant watch without lag! Gamebooster and the like dont help at all since 40% increase on 1,ghz is basicly shit.It has no effect because theres nothing to boost.

Also forgot to mention that my harddisk is the amazing 76 gb -.-

Simply save a few years some extra, even a computer you could get for 250€ would be good. Outdated parts are cheap, just check they're compatible. Should be able to run at least games from 2009.

You could do the same as me, buy a i3/i5 without a GPU and invest on that later, just check that there's a onboard GPU such as Intel HD Graphics 2000-4000.

As for getting money, if you are over the age of 18 you could always ask for Welfare; if you are not doing that, and rather you should look for a better work place.

That is also a very good idea if you want to play games rather than mod them.
360 costs around 100-150€, or even 50-100€ around christmas. Sure the games do cost.

Well... budget-bin. The other option could also be to just get a normal pc screen not an hd one and buy a second-hand computer somewhere. (We have a site here in the netherlands called marketplace where you can do that sort of stuff, similar to ebay and whatnot)

Next to its poor energy efficiency, that is pleanty more power than a rasberry pie. You can easilly run linux on it and do quite a lot with it, although obviously not stuff that demands performance.

You might want a new display though. It is bad enough that the card is so weak, no need to waste its limited power with dead pixels :(.

Yeh actually I couldn't even play Sc2 to your point(10 frames PS). Although I could play Wc3 just fine and watch YouTube videos without a problem, there really is no reason to watch 1080p even if you could in your situation. Hell I could even watch 720p videos if I closed pretty much all my open programs. I could also play most games on on emulators(the early made console games anyway) and it looked great on the tiny screen that I used.

I actually enjoyed using my old notebook very much no matter the limits I always found stuff that I wanted to always do on it.

But yeh I think anyone even with the lowest pay job could save up enough over 4 years to get an upgrade to make you happy. Think about it, for a $300 computer you barely needed to save 22 cents a day.

well, not just that.

my internet connection is also hell. which peaks at 100kbps with internet download manager
but drops at 0.18 at night til 12am or maybe even at 5.

i can only play 2005 and below games with this but i managed to get content because my unit helped me through the years.

i can't even sell this though i won't.

Oh that looks nice but 800 bucks is not something i could afford. You see next year I go to collage and its like 100 euro a semester. Before you cry how cheap that is to the thousaind euros in your universities, most proper countrys dont recognice our diplomas as legit.

lol, thousand euros? I also got like €98 a month, but that because my dad made too much money. You know there are students here who get like 300-400 a month because they have a dad who owns a bussiness and that does somehow not make them have a job officially. Now that's cheap!

And it's not 800, it is under 500. I skipped going to another country for 2 weeks in the holidays and just stayed at home so i could buy a 7950. Have patience and prioritize and if that doesn't work then i don't know what does.
