Since this seems to be where terrains are requested...

I figured that I might as well post here. Anyway, this is what I need:

I'm looking for a terrainer or two for a newer map of mine. It will be an avp-esque map, where contact with an outpost on a planet has been lost. A group of marines (7 players) are dispatched to the planet to discover what has happened. You folks know how it goes - apparently the outpost dug up some ruins, etc. The marines enter the ruins with the sole objective of discovering what happened to everyone. Eventually all they want to do is get out alive.

Anyway, I'm currently looking for a number of things:

- A passage through two mountains/large hills, where the dropshop with the marines will enter the atmosphere through (a relatively small area).

- The city/outpost itself, with the enterance to the ruins located opposite of where the marines land. (Large, desolate area - no people anywhere. There should be some signs of battle, etc. There should be some places where the marines can be ambushed by enemies rather easily, but nothing overly obvious.)

- The ruins (very large area, spanning most of the map. Signs of battle and age. It must appear to be mysterious, and must contain many hidden traps and obstacles).

The details that you just read are just scratching the surface, so if you have any questions for me, feel free to ask.

The map, when its done, will sport a custom interface, spells, icons, etc. It is going to be a pretty large project.

The map will be of the size 'huge'. Thanks for reading up to this point. If you're interested, please either PM me or post here (preferably with what you want to work on and some small sample of what you can do).

Your request is missing some key elements:
-What tileset are you looking for? (or did you want custom tiles as well?)
-Are custom models allowed? (EX: Custom Trees, or are we limited to blizzard doodads?)
-What type of planet do you want? (a moon? a planet like earth? Mars? etc.)
-Will there be water on this planet? If so how much?
-Do you want a certain scale on doodads? (by using smaller doodads/units terrainer can make the map seem much larger and by using larger doodads/units they can make it seem more lifelike)
-Should pathing be considered? (You mentioned the mountains, do you want pathing to be considered for this? or will the ship ignore pathing? or do we need to place pathing blockers for the ship to travel between?)
-What style of ruins do you want? (Underwater ruins? etc.)

Herio-San, you make some good points.

Here are the other details you wanted:
–Its a bunch of custom tiles. Currently I'm thinking about these tiles:
Dirt (Underground)
Brick (Underground)
Red Stone (Underground)
Square Tiles (Underground)
Rock (Northrend)
Black Squares (Icecrown Glacier)
Vines (Felwood)
Leaves (Felwood)
White Marble (Dalaran Ruins)
Tiled Bricks (Icecrown Glacier)
However, I'm fine with any custom tileset, as long as it fits with the theme.
–Yes, custom models are perfectly fine.
–I don't entirely want to say that it will be like Earth, but it should appear entirely habitable by humans without breathing assistance or anything. Again, I would like for it to be overly dark and gloomy (the ground, the sky, everything), and there really aren't too many places like that on the Earth.
–Yes, there will be water. While the amount of water you would like to use (quite a bit to none) is completely up to you, the overall amount of water on the entire planet should be similar to the Earth.
–I would appreciate it if you guys could make it as lifelike as possible (doodads in contrast with the size of a human). That being said, of course there can be exceptions with overly large or small doodads to make something appear more dramatic or something.
–Well, the ship will simply be flying through a crevice in the mountains, so no, there doesn't have to be any pathing in the mountains.
–The ruins can be of whatever type you want. You can use water in it if you want (for traps/just for detail/whatever), or you can leave it without water.

I hope this helps.

Ok, I compiled a map for your request (adding all the tiles and started importing models/creating doodads). Whether I do it or not it will still be helpful to whoever does. (Ill upload it when I finish it) In the meantime, I created the mountain range for you.
(lemme know if this is what you're looking for but keep in mind its not quite finished)

I worked a little on the city/outpost. Im not sure if its what you're looking for though. Im trying to stay away from alot of foilage because its too "earthy". To keep the mysterious sort of feeling ive been using the terrain and keeping it kinda flat and barren.

Edit: Just realized I took that screenie when I wasnt in game-view mode.

Edit 2: I also attached an image of what the full map layout will be.

Edit 3: The only thing is, the map doesnt use pathing. So someone is going to have to go through the whole map and place pathing blockers.

Hmm - the city looks great! While your layout is wonderful, this is what I had in mind (its up to you in the end, though...):

There shouldn't be a path to the city or anything, and the mountainous region is simply a path from an introductory cutscene. After the cutscene, the marines find themselves to be on the edge of the city, which in turn is actually connected to the ruins, and the ruins (in my mind) are the largest part of the map.

What do you think?

Edit: Wow, you're really great at terraining - there's all those little details like broken tv's, a roadsign, broken windows.... just wow. Great job!

Ah, well I can remove the mountains then if you dont want them. The only thing is that will make the ruins gigantic and kinda unrealistic. I mean, it would be like. "How could we have missed that?!" lol. Anyway, its up to you. Its your map . I just assumed you wanted a path because I didnt know otherwise. I can remove it.

lol, well, yeah... but it was underground, so I think it will be cool. Or they could just be dumb. Either way, I would appreciate it if you could remove the path to the city (leaving just the little area for the cutscene with the dropship) and make the ruins extremely large.

Thanks man, I appreciate it!

Ohhh.... I see. They walk into a cave to get to the ruins, but the actual ruins don't look like a cave. Thanks for the clarification.
